Three generations. One kitchen. Plenty of pasta. 🍝

Fulvio, his mum Nella and daughter Monisha cooking up one last family dinner before they head home.

A pretty special way to end a few weeks together on Dhämbaliya. ❤️

Cultural advice: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that this post refers to people who have passed away.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mr T & C Yumbulul.

Mr T Yumbulul was a respected Yolŋu elder and Traditional Owner of the English Company and Wessel islands in North East Arnhem Land, including the Bromby islands and the land on which Banubanu Beach Retreat stands. We are deeply grateful for the privilege of welcoming guests to his Country, and for the generosity, knowledge and care he and his wife shared with us. They particularly provided invaluable support and guidance to Fulvio and Eileen since their move to the region and they will be missed by us all.

Our heartfelt condolences go to their family, their community and all who loved them. We will continue to honour their memory and their connection to this land and sea.

With deep respect,
The Banubanu Beach Retreat team

A huge thank you to Karen & Robert for rolling up their sleeves and helping clean East Beach. 💙

Over 10 bags of rubbish (plus plenty of ropes and marine debris) were collected, helping keep this special place beautiful for everyone.

As a small thank you, they earned themselves $25 in bar credit for every bag collected… well deserved! 🍻

And of course, Kramer was there to supervise the whole operation. 🐾

What a weekend! 🎉

Our Banubanu Chef Battle was one for the books. Huge thanks to chefs Mathis and Joffrey for bringing the heat, the creativity, and the flavour — you both put on a show worthy of the island. Congratulations to Mathis for winning by the narrowest of margins!

A massive thank you to our judges for spending their weekend with us, for lending your palates and your time.

To everyone who came out to cheer, eat, and celebrate on Sunday — thank you for making it unforgettable.

Until the next showdown!
