Welcome to a new era in Nhulunbuy!

From 11 March 2026, the Gove Peninsula Motel became part of the Banubanu family and will be renamed Banubanu Lodge.  This is a 19 room motel which will be transformed as a 60s/70s style retro motel and will form another tourism meeting point for Nhulunbuy.   Importantly this will be your East Arnhem hub particularly for those of you flying into Gove.  There is a complimentary Banubanu courtesy shuttle bus to pick you up from the airport and a nightly service taking you to key entertainment and eating spots in the Nhulunbuy area – all free for Lodge and Retreat guests.

Banubanu Beach Retreat guests may need to stay a night here before heading out to the island depending on flight times, delays or tidal conditions to get your across to the island.  You can also plan to see other tourism spots from the Lodge including the Yirrkala Art Centre, Bawaka, Little Bondi, Goanna Lagoon just to name a few!

We will be able to assist you with any tourist attraction ideas when you get here!

By the way, we have big plans for this iconic motel and we will be sharing updates as they occur.
