    Common Questions People Ask.

    We now operate all year round but in any severe weather events we may close at short notice.  We generally run a reduced menu during the wet season so if you want the full experience, then come in the dry.  If you love fishing then come visit us in the wet! Follow us on the socials as that is where we will advise on any closures and promotions too!
    We often have special packages throughout the year and these are regularly updated on our special packages page and via socials.
    If we receive notification of cancellation 30 days or later then we will happily issue a refund minus a $150 admin fee.  For notifications less than 30 days, bookings are non-refundable (but can be changed to another date at no additional cost).  We can hold your booking for up to 12 months. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover unexpected delays or weather changes.  In special cases where things are beyond anyone’s control then we are willing to come discuss a win/win outcome. Note that these are on a case by case basis only.
    Yes — you can visit us and anchor up on our beach.  A landing fee of $30 per adult applies (unless you are a Banubanu Beach Club Member where it’s only $5 per adult).  There is a strictly non BYO alcohol policy across all of Banubanu including beach and water which we enforce due to our liquor license restrictions. You are able to consume your own alcohol when you are physically on your boat
    Yes! We offer Day trips on our Snubfin transfer boat but bookings are essential.  It’s a good way to experience the island and if you decide to return with a 2 week period, we will waive our boat transfer fee.  Please check our website and socials as our boat generally operates Wed-Sun during the dry and Fri-Sun in the wet.  Note, that we have a minimum 6 people that need to be on our boat.  In the case where we decide not to operate then we will contact you to re-schedule. We will provide you 48 hours notice. Boat departure and return times will vary depending on tides. If the boat does not leave at the standard 9.30am time, then we will contact you 24 hours prior
    There’s plenty to do including swimming (yep, you can do that here), snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking, fish (BYO gear), wander the top end of the island via our defined walking tracks.  If you are staying with us, enjoy one of the best sunsets on earth with a drink in hand, or simply relax and reconnect. During turtle season, you might even catch a glimpse of nesting turtles.
    Due to local liquor laws, BYO alcohol is not permitted. But don’t worry — we have a licensed bar offering a range of wine, beer, basic spirits, and non-alcoholic options.  We do strictly enforce this, so we do not breach our own liquor license.  The only place to consume BYO alcohol is whilst you are physically in your own boat (we do not allow alcohol to be consumed on our transfer boat)
    Yes, we do our best to cater for most dietary needs with advance notice. Please note: our island kitchen is small, so we can’t guarantee meals are free from traces of allergens like nuts, gluten, or dairy. Let us know your requirements ahead of time and chat with our team on arrival.
    A cooked breakfast is included each morning. For lunch and dinner, you have options: Order from our seasonal à la carte menu (pay-as-you-go) Pre-purchase a meal & drinks package as an add-on to your booking (excludes cocktails and champagne)
    We only currently have internet connectivity near or in our restaurant area.  There is Telstra 4G is available in most elevated areas but not in the cabins, We encourage guests to unplug, but connection is possible if needed. From 1 Feb 2026, there will be internet connectivity across the entire retreat including all cabins and suites.
