Our Restaurant, Bar, Lounge and Pool
Our restaurant is an elevated pavilion overlooking the azure blue waters of our Western Cove.
We have a dry season (June – November) and wet season (December – May) menu. We also refresh our dishes regularly throughout each season.
We seek to always provide innovative, high-quality cuisine prepared by our onsite chef. The deck is also the perfect place to sit, relax and soak up the atmosphere of Arnhem Land. The deck is about to get bigger too!
New deck and Pizza oven (April 26!)
We finally have a definitive timeline for our new extended deck and woodfire pizza oven, which will add significantly to the vibe of our place and allow us to host more people throughout the day.
Tastes of the Island
The Banubanu Island experience isn’t complete until you enjoy the talents of our masterful and creative Chef Joffrey. Every dish is prepared from scratch including our breads and sauces, using only the highest quality ingredients. We don’t use any seed, canola or sunflower oils as your health matters to us!
Our menu changes regularly in line with seasonal availability of fresh produce and also just because we feel we need to change things up a little!
Special Dietary Needs
We will do our best to meet special dietary needs on the island. Just let us know in advance if you have any special requirements and we will make every effort to be able to accommodate you.
Note that we are not a certified coeliac kitchen and if you are extremely sensitive to gluten or or other allegins, please check with us before booking.
Meet the Chef
We are obsessed with food. We figure there is no point coming all the way out to see us just to eat food you can get anywhere else!
We chose Joffrey as our head chef to ensure we had an experienced and certified individual ready to take on the challenge of setting a new benchmark in food across the Territory.
Joffrey is an accomplished authentic French Chef who is one of a rare breed of chefs happy to accommodate the unique needs of the island and what our guests want.
He has delivered this in spades and his meticulous preparation, creativity and embracing that mix we are after at Banubanu – that is European cuisine melded with indigenous flavouring. This is a wonderful and ongoing journey.
